Join the SE team – Stage Manager and Set/Stage Designer
We’re excited to be recruiting for three new roles to support with the delivery of our in Sync tour with MishMash Productions in November, and for the development of the on-stage visual identity of the shows in our upcoming 2023-24 season.
We at Scottish Ensemble pride ourselves on creating productions that stand out of the crowd thanks to the power, quality and fresh-thinking behind all our work. We push ourselves to push boundaries, and we strive to be a sector leader when it comes to developing innovative approaches to classical music performance.
There is no such thing as a ‘standard’ Scottish Ensemble performance. We are always aiming to innovate and work collaboratively to create one-off, exhilarating musical experiences.

Stage Manager
We are seeking an experienced individual to lead the stage management of the Scottish tour of in Sync in November 2023, and further touring across the UK in 2024. The Stage Manager will work closely with Scottish Ensemble production staff and the MishMash Productions team to deliver high quality performances in concert halls and schools around the country.
Set Designer (in Sync rebuild project)
We are seeking applications from designers and makers with experience of working in a theatre or performance setting. This is a fixed role to work specifically on the re-building of our set for our upcoming in Sync tour.
Stage Designer (2023-24 season)
For this role we are looking for applications from designers and makers with experience in theatre or performance settings looking to take on a longer-term role with us for 2023-24 (please note we are open to taking applications for both the Set and Stage Designer). In this role you will support the Scottish Ensemble team in advance of our upcoming productions to create striking stage designs to enhance our touring performances.
This is the first time that we have engaged with designers and stage managers in this way, and we are excited to work with applicants in creative and collaborative ways, and to adapt our roles and responsibilities appropriately. If you have any questions or would like to discuss any of these roles with the team please contact Stuart Burns, our Head of Artistic Planning at stuart.burns@scottishensemble.co.uk
