Edgar Meyer and Friends

In this special performance, Scottish Ensemble, collaborates with American double-bassist and composer Edgar Meyer. Hailed as “…the most remarkable virtuoso in the relatively un-chronicled history of his instrument” (The New Yorker), Meyer will perform the European premiere of his Concertino for Strings and Double Bass – a tour-de-force of both breakneck speed and sonorous lyricism.

Other friends featuring in this varied evening where classical meets Celtic include Donald Grant and Mischa Macpherson for a set of Gaelic songs, and harpist/composer Ailie Robertson, whose work Archetypes brings to life characters that can be found in stories from across history and the globe.
