From the pressing heat of the deep south to the sharp autumnal wind of the Appalachian trail to the anxious hum of the metropolis… Come with us on a journey through a North American landscape, and an evening of music rich with belief, fervour and visionary talent.
From the simmering cinematic joy of Philip Glass’ Company to the ecstatic frenzy of John Adams’ 21st-century masterpiece, Shaker Loops, we descend, gently, into Copland’s evocative, russet-toned depiction of a New England landscape, performed complete with clarinet, flute, bassoon and piano.

Motion. Kinetic energy, pulsing, rhythmic displacement, the call of unknown forces outside our sense of self, a deconstructed idea. As if the word itself could be captured in sound! Yet, this work has it all. Fragility, intention of line and phrase... and always with that flowing quality that we universally recognise as “motion”.
