Scottish Ensemble Celtic connectionsWe’ll be joining in the fun of Celtic Connections, Glasgow’s annual folk, roots and world music festival, this weekend with a performance of a brand new piece by Sally Beamish – Seavaigers, commissioned by Celtic Connections and Edinburgh International Harp Festival.
Shetland fiddle player Chris Stout and Dundee-born harpist Catriona McKay are the soloists in Sally’s new piece which, as Sally says, reflects “the anticipation, fear, comradeship and adventure of sea voyaging.” Catriona and Chris, who have been working together for 15 years, will also be performing some of their duo material in this concert.
The concert is at 8pm on Sunday 22 January at 8pm in the Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow. Also performing are Swedish super-trio Väsenwho combine their native folk traditions with unique instrumentation (nyckelharpa, 5-string viola, 12-string guitar).
Tickets £16, available from Celtic Connections website
