Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis
This piece is 15 minutes of pure bliss, where you’re transported back in time to Renaissance England, with its modal harmonies contrasting wonderfully with the soaring string writing. I also love how the ghostly echo created by the second, smaller string group sounds almost like an organ. Just a fantastic, fantastic piece.
