Each year our Young Artists programme, delivered in partnership with Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, helps to train and develop the next generation of string musicians.
This year we’re delighted to welcome four talented young performers as our Young Artists for 2026.
Catrin Borggrim – Violin
Celia Griffiths – Violin
Aiden Macdonald – Viola
Ellamay Mantie – Cello
The four were selected following our side-by-side residency week at RCS in January, which culminated in our Musical Encounters concerts in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Now, they will embark on a year-long programme of paid opportunities and development experiences with the team here at Scottish Ensemble; from diving headfirst into the world of professional performance in our touring concerts to office days with the management team to gain insights into programming, fundraising, marketing and governance.
Catrin will join the Ensemble on this month’s Concerts for a Summer’s Night tour across Scotland, performing to audiences in Strathpeffer, Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Aiden will perform in our Bach & Blood tour in September, while both Celia and Ellamay will have the chance to join for our audience-favourite Concerts by Candlelight tour in December.
