In April 2025, Scottish Ensemble joined Donald Grant and friends to perform contemporary and traditional Scottish tunes in an evening of friendship and musical storytelling. Touring to venues across Scotland, the programme included Donald’s work Thuit an Oidhche Oirnn (The Night Overtook Us). This film gives a snapshot of the joy they found in making music together.

Our recent collaboration with Donald Grant was extremely exciting. His arrangements are so inventive, and he and his band have so much energy that you can't help but be swept along & be inspired.
I loved the story-telling aspect of the music - it was moving, transported me and took my mind and imagination to a lovely place.
