Scottish Ensemble is joined by award-winning folk duo Chris Stout (fiddle) and Catriona McKay (harp) for an evening of music inspired by the sea.

As part of this special collaborative performance, Chris and Catriona will perform their own songs in between other pieces inspired by treacherous tales of high tides, stormy horizons and brave sea-faring souls.

At the centre of the evening is Sally Beamish’s incredible Seavaigers. A Scottish Ensemble commission, Seavaigers tells the story of a dramatic sea journey across Scotland’s stormy east coast, from Dundee to Dunnet. It was commissioned by Scottish Ensemble and written specifically for SE, Chris and Catriona to perform.

“Thrilling… lyricism and fire… delicate restraint and furious gusto… creating a seamless mesh between folk and contemporary classical stylings”  The Scotsman
