Join us for something a little bit different!

SE has teamed up with music charity Live Music Now to offer a tasty lunchtime treat of Schubert Lieder and other songs. Performed by soprano Emma Versteeg and pianist Maryam Sherhan, the audience will get an intimate, up-close experience, with seating on the Caird Hall stage itself.

William Sweeney’s Luminate: From the Islands was commissioned by Live Music Now, and the programme for this concert has been carefully put together by choosing Schubert Lieder which correspond to each of Sweeney’s pieces, united in their themes of water, sea, birds and lullabies.

This special one-off concert is intended to offer a little more context around the evening concert, a celebration of Schubert and his legacy by Scottish Ensemble and world-class viola player Maxim Rysanov. With a programme including Mahler’s arrangement for string orchestra of his famous string quartet, Death and The Maiden, as well as an arrangement of Schubert’s beautiful Arpeggione Sonata written especially for Rysanov, the evening concert is a must for fans of either Schubert or strings.

More information on the Scottish Ensemble and Maxim Rysanov concert at 7.30pm
