Scottish Ensemble is excited to join long-time collaborators Chris Stout (fiddle) and Catriona McKay (Scottish harp) for this concert as part of Celtic Connections 2019.

Deservedly affirming the artistic triumph of their third album Bare Knuckle, Chris Stout and Catriona McKay were crowned Best Duo at 2018’s Radio 2 Folk Awards – just one highlight of another memorable year for the trailblazing fiddle/harp partnership. For this Celtic Connections concert, the duo showcase their recent projects and collaborations through an impressive variety of guests, including Scandinavian singing sensation Marthe Valle and her band; Norwegian fiddle/harmonium duo Julie Alapnes and Halvard Rundberg; Irish traditional icon Séamus Begley, and Malinky vocalist Fiona Hunter.

The programme also includes the UK première of a custom-composed concerto for Stout and McKay by genre-spanning Finnish legend Timo Alakotila.
