Baroque Dance Party

Bach knew how to throw a party. So did Telemann, and Purcell. With the great Baroque masters as our inspiration, we’re taking five string instruments, a harpsichord and some Baroque percussion and hosting our own.

From the soaring pomp of Bach’s Air on the G String, one of the most famous melodies in history, to the rhythmic elegance of the orchestral suite from Purcell’s Fairy Queen opera, the sound of the Baroque court is our rich drawing board for this concert of historic dance music.

Telemann’s Tafelmusik will be served with a twist. Playing from an electronic ‘sound table’ – one of his own creations – percussionist and composer Johannes Fischer will enhance the joyous collection of dances by creating loops and patterns from fragments of the music as you hear it.
