Scottish Ensemble £10 season 2011 - 2012The Scottish Ensemble’s £10:11/12 Season begins this Sunday 23 October at The Music Hall in Aberdeen with further concerts in Inverness, Perth, Dundee and Edinburgh. Rising-star pianist Alasdair Beatson is joining the Ensemble to perform Mendelssohn’s Concerto for Violin, Piano and Strings with Scottish Ensemble Artistic Director Jonathan Morton. The Ensemble will also be performing Mendelssohn’s Capriccio and Fugue from op. 81 and two works by Stravinksy: Concertino and Concerto in D
On Saturday 29 October, the Ensemble will be helping Glasgow Music celebrate the 75th birthday of Philip Glass with a performance of the composer’s Second Violin Concerto – The American Seasons with soloist Robert McDuffie at Tramway. Vivaldi’s Four Seasons will also be performed.
The next day, the Ensemble travel to London to continue its residency at Wigmore Hall on Sunday 30 October re-joining Alasdair to perform Mendelssohn & Stravinsky.
The Mendelssohn & Stravinsky concert will be broadcast live from Perth on Tuesday 25 October at 7.30pm on BBC Radio 3 and will be available to listen again for 7 days. Full details of the broadcast can be found on the BBC’s website
