Announcing a brand new season
We’re very happy to reveal the details of a brand new season of musical adventures.
From July 2018 to May 2019, we’ll be crossing genres, styles and art forms across a series of musical events that aim to make new connections and encourage fresh perspectives on classical music, its place in the world, and what it can be.
From our Edinburgh Fringe debut, with the much-lauded composer/producer Anna Meredith and visual artist Eleanor Meredith, to an event using music and discussion to explore exactly what music does to our bodies and brains, to stimulating collaborations with a real variety of high-profile soloists including Gabriela Montero, Sean Shibe, Keyvan Chemirani and more… Our 2018-19 Season is packed full of events that explore the many facets of the mysterious, intangible, utterly precious entity we call music.
The music in the trailer is Debussy’s String Quartet in G minor (movement II – ‘assez vif et bien rhythmé), arranged for string orchestra by Jonathan Morton, and performed by Scottish Ensemble. This track features on Scottish Ensemble’s 2016 recording of Takemitsu and Debussy on Linn Records. Read the tracklisting or buy a copy from our Recordings page.
